More than three decades ago an overweight Dutch housewife called Juliette Bergmann walked into a gym in an attempt to lose some weight. She went on to build one of the most beautifully muscled bodies ever seen, win three Ms Olympia titles, and become one of the most legendary and respected figures in the history of female bodybuilding.

Juliette Bergman celebrates her 55th birthday today (30th November) . She still trains, she is still involved in competitions and she still looks gorgeous!

Juliette said: “I started training in 1981 together with my ex- husband. The main reason to workout for me was to lose weight, definitely not to become a bodybuilder.

“I only decided to become a bodybuilder after I visited a bodybuilding contest in 1983 and noticed how good the girls looked.”

It was a lucky break for female bodybuilding because although Juliette went on to pack on the serious levels of quality muscle necessary to win a Ms Olympia by 2001 she has never at any time in her 32 year career looked anything less than beautifully feminine.

She has a mass-media friendly look which gives the sport of female bodybuilding a huge boost.

We at realfemalebodybuilding.com would like to wish Juliette a very happy birthday and many more decades pumping iron and being a superb ambassador for women's muscle.

Juliette is a hugely experienced IFBB judge and in January, 2009, Juliette was inducted into the IFBB Hall of Fame.
