Her advice is to flex, flex and flex some more!
The Californian, who now does her bodybuilding down under in Australia, advises all female bodybuilders looking for iron-hard definition to not only pump the muscle they are working but really SQUEEZE it too!
So during the exercise you are not only lifting but FLEXING like you are on stage too.
She also recommends flexing and squeezing the target muscle between sets.
Kortney says the technique works with all muscle groups but is particularly effective when doing functional movements like the squat, deadlift and military press.
In her newest YouTube video she says: “The trick to getting definition is flexing your muscles. So when you're working out and you're doing biceps you flex through the movement - you really squeeze that muscle.
“Even in between sets, if you're really after definition, just sit and squeeze the muscle you're working. People might look at you funny but give them the bird because you are after your goal and you don't care what anybody else thinks.
“It is the same with the legs, just squeeze everything you can and that will build up the definition.”
Kortney is a certified personal trainer, level 1 AWF (Australian Weightlifting Federation) Olympic lifting coach, three time international bodybuilding competitor.
